Group policies: 25 individuals max/10 students minimum per group. Adults not included in the initial reservation request may be put on a public house tour, separate from the student program. At least two teachers or official school representatives must accompany each group of minors; 1 teacher ticket is complimentary with every 23 student tickets. Groups of students in mixed grades must be within three years of one another’s learning levels (example: 3rd-5th grade).
Please note: Reservations are required for all school group visits and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A deposit is required to finalize confirmation. 2 ½ and 4-hour guided school programs offered September – June. Please check with us for current pricing and availability.
Monticello: The House Tour
All grades
Tour: 35 to 40 minutes (Allow 2 hours)
Enjoy a scheduled guided house tour and self-guided access to Jefferson’s gardens, the workrooms and storage areas, Mulberry Row—the center of plantation activity in Jefferson’s time—and the Thomas Jefferson Visitor Center’s theater and museum galleries.

Student/youth-organization groups (K-12) of any size: $10
One teacher ticket is complimentary with every 23 student tickets. All other adults, including additional teachers, will be admitted at the reduced rate of $22 and must be included in the reservation.

2 ½ -hour guided programs
2 ½-hour guided programs include a tour of the house and grounds
Roundabout Monticello
Grades 3-12 (200 people/8 groups max)
Explore public and private spaces on Jefferson’s “little mountain” as you learn about the people who lived and worked here over 200 years ago. This program provides an introduction to Monticello as a working plantation and architectural icon and to Jefferson as a Founding Father and man of the Enlightenment.
Childhood at Monticello
Grades K-3 (100 people/4 groups max)
Designed with our youngest visitors in mind, students will play colonial games, sing songs, and learn about the lives and experiences of children, both free and enslaved, long ago. Active indoor activities will be substituted in case of inclement weather. Note: Offered April – October
4-hour guided program
4-hour guided programs are designed for students in grades 3-6. They include a 45-minute lunch break in addition to classroom activities and a tour of the house and grounds.
